Burning and loss of the Tcheco (19th century)



The steamer Tcheco was going from New-York to Le Havre (France) and was burned down in the Atlantic after thunder stroke the ship. The crew and passengers were saved by a ship from Liverpool, but a large and valuable cargo was lost when the steamer foundered.

She also carried US$ 70.000 in specie.
