Collision and foundering of the Land (20th century)

The American liner Land foundered in a collision, from Liverpool to Philadelphia.

She lost not far from Holyhead with 114 passengers and crew which was saved. The Captain had 35 years of savings with him and some wealthy passengers lost everything they possessed.
