In 1934, the wreck of the Glen liner Glenartney, 7237 tons, was located by the Sorima. The ship was found to be lying in 738 feet of water and it was noted to be twice the depth in which the famous Egypt salvage operations were carried out.
The Glenartney had been sunk by an enemy submarine off the Tunisian coast, off Cape Bon, in 1918, when homeward bound from Singapore with a cargo of valuable metals, including tin, for the British Government.
