Tragic collision with the foundering of the Cameleon (19th century)

The total loss of the Cameleon of 500 tons, on a voyage from Gibraltar to Barcelona, has been announced 20 miles off Gibraltar.

Passengers lost everything they possessed on board, including  a sum of 250.000 Fr. in specie belonging to the government.
