The cargo ship Caledonia of 7.500 tons, on her way from Noumea (New Caledonia) to Le Havre, was abandonned and sank in the Atlantic, 500 miles off Bordeaux with a full cargo of Nickel ingots, 8.000 tons in all.

Today's value: Approx. US$ 168.000.000 !
