Hi
Just introducing my self I'm an X-Diamond diver in South Africa I have never located any wrecks but found some interesting bits of porcelain and glass on the beach some years ago in cape Town.
Hope to be able to contribute to this forum.

Welcome Xavier !
Years ago, I spent some time in Cape Town, with the people who found the HMS Birkenhead... And many others such as the Colebrook. Great time in SA !!Never give up your dreams ! It is your lead for life... |

The guys I met were the one of Aqua Exploration, Charlie Shapiro. They are now waiting for the authorization to work on the Brederode, a VOC lost with a lot of treasures on board... Never give up your dreams ! It is your lead for life... |

The name rings a bell but I have not been with the guys in Cape Town for some time now (+- 15 years)as I was in west Africa Senegal, Ghana and Mauritania. Where is the Brederode situated? or is this confidential information and how long have they been waiting for the authorisation to salvage her. I know that there is one in Cape Town that is being looted while the guys are waiting for there authorisation to salvage it could be the same wreck.

The wreck is in deep water and need heavy and highly technical equipment to be excavated, so I don't think it is the one you are talking about... Never give up your dreams ! It is your lead for life... |
