For those of you who don't know. There is a piece of electronic equipment made in Germany that can detect a cannon from 40 feet away. The unit is called a pulse star ll.
The electronic box is not water proof. However the unit does come with a 30 or 100 foot extension cable. There are various size coils for the unit, from an 8 inch to one larger then a 3 foot.
I have personally used the 3 foot with good success. The electronic box has an intensity meter and also 2 different lights that light up when the target is either ferrous or non-ferrous.

Yes Ed I am aware of this unit . What turned me off was the price though . That is why I started building my DBP2010 which does the same thing as the Pulse star . Not quite as fancy but the same results . I have 4 coils of different diameter , the largest being 3 Ft X 3 Ft . and the smallest being a probe with a diameter of about 1 1/2 inch I am very satisfied with this unit since I don't care about the looks of the unit but am interested in the result . Cornelius, I totally agree with you. I don't care what a unit looks like. I only care about how it works.
The cost is high. I just wanted to point out that if someone thinks they have a good area to search, the unit will tell you when you are over a non-ferrous object. |

Cornelius, How would your unit work at 6 feet of depth? Also, how would one go about making one of these pulse units if the person didn't have extensive electronics knowledge? The PI units work equally well on land as under water, correct? Thanks, RTH |

Bearhunter . It is just about impossible to build one of those PI meteal detectors if you are not familiar with electronics . Mine will go 15 to 20 feet easily but it is up to the size of the target . The PI works even better under water than above . Is there nobody around that could help you build a good PI detector ? I don't have anyone around that is that knowledgeable in electronics. Kellyco has the unit Ed was talking about on sale now. $2995. $1000 off, not bad. Sounds like the unit to have if your serious about hunting.
